Pares&Alvarez shares his approach to sustainability at a seminar at the University of San Sebastián
The integration of sustainability as an essential design factor was the focus of Pares&Alvarez’s participation in the Seminar on Sustainability Applied to Engineering and Architecture, organized by the School of Engineering at the University of San Sebastián (USS). The event brought together academics, students, and representatives from the public and private sectors to discuss how to effectively incorporate environmental and social criteria into project development.
At the event, Pares&Alvarez was represented by Project Manager Claudia Yévenes, who spoke about the company’s commitment to sustainability in engineering and how responsible solutions for the future are being designed. The presentation demonstrated how the company integrates sustainability from the early stages of engineering through a cross-cutting approach that combines technical performance, economic efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
During her presentation, she noted that “sustainability is not a phase; it is a design criterion in engineering that must be a fundamental pillar of decision-making,” and emphasized that “there are hard engineering methodologies that allow us to calculate, measure, and justify sustainability in projects.” Likewise, the chemical civil engineer from the University of Concepción emphasized that sustainability is not a limitation for engineering; on the contrary, it makes it smarter by guiding solutions that generate greater value over time and better local acceptance.
