The structural problem of water deficit that Chile faces is undeniable and the impact that the lack of this vital element is causing in some areas of the country, whether for human consumption, agricultural irrigation and industrial purposes, is opening the way to the search for new ways to obtain water resources.
Thus, the company Aguas Pacífico began the construction of its multipurpose desalination plant with a production capacity of 1000 l/s and an aqueduct of 105 kilometers in length, which will carry water from Puchuncaví in the Valparaíso Region to the Quilapilún sector in the Metropolitan Region. The project uses exclusively renewable energies in its operation (desalination process and water impulsion).
The desalination plant is being developed through an EPC by IDE Technologies, for whom Pares & Alvarez executed and is carrying out the architecture, detailed engineering in the civil, electrical, civil, piping and mechanical specialties for the required air conditioning systems; lighting; electricity; drinking water; sewer system; the instrumentation ducts for the entire desalination plant and the civil, electrical and instrumentation designs of the bilge.
In addition, for the administrative building, P&A supports IDE in its architecture, civil, electrical, instrumentation and control connection design, as well as the communications and computer design required by the Plant.
The desalination plant is being carried out under Reverse Osmosis technology, one of the most efficient and environmentally friendly systems that has multiple applications in the world and has been present in Chile for more than 10 years, in the mining, industrial and sanitary sectors.
