S03/E07 Engineering for Leaders: Green Hydrogen, Safe Innovation for a Sustainable Future
We discussed green hydrogen. Much has been said about Chile’s natural capabilities for producing green hydrogen, but since the launch of the National Green Hydrogen Strategy in 2020, very few projects have materialized, such as the Haru Oni Pilot Plant, where Pares&Alvarez prepared and processed the Environmental Impact Statement and developed part of the plant’s engineering. According to H2Chile, there are approximately 75 projects, although most are in the study, pre-feasibility, or early environmental permitting stages. What does our country still need for this industry to truly take off?
Joining us is Gonzalo Blumel, an industrial civil engineer specializing in the environment and general manager of Susterra, a company dedicated to the development of sustainable energy, storage, and desalination projects. Also joining us is Paula Clemo, commercial manager of Consulting at Pares&Alvarez and an expert in risk analysis and industrial processes, who has worked closely on the development of green hydrogen projects.
